For the Audi Chairman Dr. Martin Winterkorn, the Q7 is the coupé behind the off-road vehicle. In terms of its dimensions - with a length of 5.09 metres, for example, this SUV from Audi is 33 centimetres longer than a VW Touareg - the Q7 at the same time boasts an imposing presence on the road.
Advance sales of the Audi Q7 have already begun; however, the all-terrain four-wheel-drive car will only become available in spring 2006. The launch of the Q7 is being accompanied by an extensive advertising campaign.
The Audi RS 4 came out top in a sports car comparison with the Porsche Carrera 911 4S. The 4.2-litre V8 FSI engine on the RS 4 activates an impressive output of 420 bhp, whereas the 3.8-litre six-cylinder boxer engine on the Porsche produces an output of 355 bhp.
In an interview with the newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung” Audi Board Chairman Dr. Martin Winterkorn announced that Audi was well on the way to reach its target of selling 800,000 cars this year.
In the “Auto Bild” comparison two lifestyle estate cars with powerful diesel engines, namely the Audi A6 Avant 2.7 TDI and the Volvo V70 D5, were pitted against each other. The Audi V6 turbo engine, with an output of 180 bhp, made the more commanding impression when compared with the inline-5 diesel engine with an output of 185 bhp; engine running was quieter and vibration-free.
The Audi A6 is proof that estate cars can be practical without looking at all unattractive or unsporty. The A6 is perhaps the best-proportioned estate car on the market, according to the British automotive magazine “autocar”.
Audi will be launching its off-roader, the Q7, on the market in the spring of 2006. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Board Chairman at Audi, undertook the final check in the desert in the US State of Colorado. Winterkorn calls the Q7 his 2.3-tonne baby.

The four-wheel drive Audi RS 4 comes with an extremely powerful V8 4.2-litre petrol engine, which achieves speeds of up to 8,250 revolutions per minute without a turbocharger. The engine is fairly quiet when at normal running operation. However, when the driver actuates the small "S button" on the sports steering wheel, a flap in the exhaust is opened, and the driver can savour the powerful sound of the V8 engine even before the car takes off.
In an interview with the magazine “Bestseller” Dr. Winterkorn stated that Audi aims to be the brand with the most satisfied customers. Consumers should associate the Audi brand with sportiness, sophistication, high-quality, reliability and superb design.
The new Audi RS 4 comes with an eight-cylinder petrol engine which develops a mighty 414 bhp. The engine, which features petrol direct injection, manages without turbo assistance and is highly impressive for its spontaneous response as well its exceptionally free-revving nature.
The Audi V8 S4 Avant and the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S coupé have been pitted against each other by way of comparison. Its avaricious, trapezoidal radiator grille, its bullish, high-performance brake system and its sports spoiler unit give the S4 Avant an exceptionally sporty look.
Audi chairman Dr. Martin Winterkorn predicts that 2005 will be a good year for successful car manufacturers, which naturally includes Audi, too. Whether there will be a sustained change for the better for the entire car industry in Germany will depend not least of all on the outcome of the general election in Germany.
Elements of pioneering technology come together beneath the unitary body of the Audi Q7, and will be implemented in other Audi models in the near future. For the first time, the new V8 FSI engines play an important role here.
Audi will be equipping the 12-cilindro versions of its flagship, the A8 W12 and A8L W12 quattro with ceramic brakes presumably in October. The brake discs are made of a carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic composite instead of the usual grey cast iron material.

Two years after the concept study “Pikes Peak quattro”, Audi is finally taking the wraps off the Q7 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The first off-roader produced by the Ingolstadt company, the Q7 will compete for market shares in the SUV segment from the start of the coming year. Audi is offering a hi-fi system from the top Danish brand Bang & Olufsen in the Audi A8 for the first time. The hi-fi specialists have integrated a digital sound processor into the system for the A8 which analyses not just road and wind noises, but also takes the surface of the interior equipment into account in order to guarantee the speakers’ optimum emission characteristics.

The so-called "Advanced Sound System" does not just consist of a couple of speakers distributed randomly in the car - the Danes have designed a complex acoustic concept, which has all the distinctive features of a concert hall on wheels.
The most powerful diesel-engined saloon car in the world is produced by Audi. The new eight-cylinder engine in the Audi A8 quattro delivers a mighty 326 bhp.
The Wiesbaden supplier SGL Carbon and Audi will jointly manufacture a ceramic brake for production models. It will be possible to order the brake starting from July.
With a maximum power output of 340 bhp, the S4 was up until now the most powerful member of the Audi A4 model line. With the new RS 4, Audi is offering just that little bit more. Its V8 engine with petrol direct injection generates 420 bhp and accelerates the vehicle to 100 km/h from a standing start in a mere 4.8 seconds.
According to a current statistic, 75 % of all road accidents involving a car are the result of human error. In future, electronic driver assistance systems should compensate at least in part for human shortcomings.
